New Visa Application Centres

Thirteen Estonian Visa Application Centres will be open to public on 18th July, making it possible to apply Schengen visas all together in fifteen Chinese cities when travelling to Estonia.

The first two Estonian visa application centres in Beijing and Shanghai were opened last year. The thirteen new centres are part of Estonia’s continuous efforts to facilitate travel for the growing number of Chinese tourists, as well as business travellers.

In 2016, 55 per cent more visa applications were submitted in the Estonian consular officies and visa application centres than the year before, and the first six months of 2017 are showing a similar trend.

Applications for short-term visa can be handed over to all 15 centres in Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Jinan, Kunming, Nanjing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shenzhen, Xi’an and Wuhan.

Processing time for visa applications is 7-15 calendar days, counting from the date when all requested documents have been submitted. This period may be extended in specific cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is required, for example, when you are requested to come to an interview or submit additional documentation.

The biometric data collection also needs to be done at these centres in accordance with the implementation of the Visa Information System, with the exception of children younger than 12 years. The good quality fingerprint scans can be re-used for further visa applications over a 5-year period.
